COMPREHENSIVE PACKAGE OF MEASURES NECESSARY TO TACKLE ALCOHOL CULTURE - FINNIE

Written by Ross Finnie on Wed 26th May 2010

Commenting as the Labour Party publishes its Alcohol Commission's interim report, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"Changing Scotland's drinking culture should be a priority for every MSP, regardless of party.

"Singling out a proposal to limit caffeine in alcohol won't do this.

"There are no silver bullets to making this long-term culture change. We need a comprehensive package of measures including a greater understanding of why Scots, particularly young Scots start to drink irresponsibly in the first place, stopping the sale of alcohol below cost price and better enforcement of existing laws."

Ends.
