PROMISE OF ACTION ON REPOSSESSIONS OVERDUE BUT WELCOME - FINNIEWritten by Ross Finnie on Wed 17th Jun 2009 PROMISE OF ACTION ON REPOSSESSIONS OVERDUE BUT WELCOME - FINNIE Commenting after a Ministerial Statement on the final report looking into repossessions in Scotland, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesperson Ross Finnie said: "After the Cabinet Secretary's stubborn refusal to accept the problem of legal protection over repossessions in Scotland I am pleased she has now promised action over the Committee's report. "It is vital that legal protections are in place to ensure repossession is a last resort. There could be no more important a time to put these measures in place than during the current recession. "The SNP got it wrong. Now that Parliament has forced a rethink to protect families from the spectre of homelessness all thirteen recommendations made in the report must be implemented." Ends.
