SNP CLASS SIZE COMMITMENT A HOLLOW PROMISE-FINNIE

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has accused the SNP of making a hollow promise on their commitment to reduce class sizes across Scotland.

East Renfrewshire council announced that due to a legal loophole it was 'bowing to the inevitable' and raising all its class sizes to 30 as of August.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"The events in East Renfrewshire are further evidence that the SNP's manifesto commitment on class sizes was a hollow promise.

"Not only have ministers not given East Renfrewshire council the money to reduce class sizes. They have also failed to provide them with the necessary legal protection.

"The Scottish ministers have to stop hiding behind excuses and start delivering reduced class sizes as promised in there manifesto."
