FINNIE- DISAPPOINTED AT YET MORE JOB LOSSES

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie is disappointed at the closure of photographic store Jessops in Helensburgh.

Photographic firm Jessops confirmed yesterday that it will shut 12 Scottish Stores with a further five to close elsewhere in the UK. At least 70 Scottish workers face job losses with a number of those losses occurring in the Helensburgh Branch.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"I am very disappointed to see yet more job losses taking place in Helensburgh.

"After the recent loss of Woolworths, the loss of another major retailer in Helensburgh would be a hard blow to the town.

"In the current financial climate many businesses are struggling and some are facing substantial losses.

"The Scottish Government must do more to support Scottish businesses, as the rate of unemployment continues to spiral out of control."
