West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has slammed the SNP Government for more broken promises as the pledge to recruit an additional 1000 extra police officers looks dead.
Strathclyde Police which covers the West of Scotland and Glasgow has revealed it will have to make almost £40 Million pound worth of savings over the next two years. Strathclyde Police force has also warned that come 2010 it may have to cut overall numbers of officers and staff.
"The efficiency savings faced by Strathclyde Police smack of yet more broken promises by the SNP Government.
"After all the campaign pledges of a 1000 extra police officers in Scotland, 480 in Strathclyde. The West of Scotland may actually be facing a reduction in the number of police officers.
"Will the SNP Government do the honourable thing and admit they have broken yet another campaign pledge."
