ROSS FINNIE PRAISES EAST RENFREWSHIRE

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has praised the exam performance of East Renfrewshire pupils after it was revealed that East Renfrewshire was the top performing Local Authority by far, with 27% of its pupils passing five or more highers and 47% of its pupils passing three or more highers.

St Ninian's High School was the second best performing State Funded School with 37% of its pupils passing five highers or more. A total of five Schools from East Renfrewshire are included in the list of top performing Schools.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"I am delighted that East Renfrewshire was the top performing Local Authority in Scotland for exam results.

"The excellent results are testament to the hard working teachers and staff from East Renfrewshire's Schools who continue to provide excellent standards of teaching and support to their pupils.

"The exam results of the pupils of East Renfrewshire are outstanding, with 27% of the pupils getting five or more highers and 47% getting three or more highers. East Renfrewshire was the best performing Local Authority by far and all the praise for this must go to the hard working pupils and teachers of the Schools.
