ROSS FINNIE IMPRESSED BY RENFREWSHIRES SERVICES TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has praised the services to protect children and young people in Renfrewshire council area.
The inspection of services to protect children in the Renfrewshire council area took place during April and May 2008. The Inspection covered a range of staff and services working in areas that had a role in the protection of children. These services included Health, Police, The Local Authority and the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration (SCRA) as well as services provided by voluntary and independent organisations.
In the report published by the HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) Renfrewshire's services to protect children and young people received three excellent ratings, twelve very good ratings and three good ratings.
"The protection of our children and young people is one of the most important services provided. I am very pleased that this service is being provided at such a high standard in Renfrewshire.
"This excellent report is testament to the hard working staff in the child protection services, who are providing excellent standards of protection, support and care to children and young people in Renfrewshire.
"This report shows a perfect example of how protective services for children and young people should be carried out all over Scotland.
