FINNIE PRAISES DEBATING SCHOOL
West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has praised Mearns Castle High School in Newton Mearns for reaching the regional final of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) National Debating Competition.
The 2007/08 competition attracted a record number of entries a total of 128 teams, 82 from Scottish Schools. Mearns Castle High School excelled in the competition reaching the regional final of the competition.
Commenting Mr Finnie said:
"I was very pleased to see Mearns Castle High School reaching the Regional Final of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) National Debating Competition.
"I would like to praise the hard working pupils who did so well to reach the regional final and perhaps next year they will go on to win the competition.
