West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has condemned the SNP's class size promise after Renfrewshire council raised the average maximum class size of more than 20 for English and Maths in S1 and S2
"The SNP's class size promise is in pieces, the class size promise was a key election pledge and many parents across Renfrewshire voted SNP because of it.
"Renfrewshire council have been forced to increase S1 and S2 classes to more than 20 to try to give teachers more flexibility. The SNP budget has placed undue pressure on the council and forced them to raise class sizes and not reduce them as promised.
